I had some fun the other morning before work. I am trolling but I am also serious on how I feel on the subject. Women are still oppressed, and this is just one way. The world we live in has objectified womens breasts into objects of sexual desire and chastises women when they are used in the way Nature had intended them to be. It is ridiculous and unfair. Women deserve equal rights to men. We live in 2013. Lets stop treating women, LGBT, ethnic people differently and lets start treating everyone how we want to be treated.

May is National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month, which basically means it’s the season for teen mom shaming. And damn if the Candie’s Foundation doesn’t deliver! On May 1 they revealed their new celebrity-endorsed PSAs, which include lots of messages that provide the super useful combo of shame and no actual helpful information whatsoever.

so instead of addressing things like practicing safe sex, problems with accessing contraception/healthcare/sex ed in the US (and the current hostile political climate towards these things) or maybe even how being a young mother doesn’t make someone an evil failure, candies foundation has given us a crying baby soundboard for iphone to “Help teens protect themselves against pregnancy”

Wow. Really, Candies? Really? The “You’re supposed to be changing the world, not changing diapers” really got to me. Thats not just offensive to teen mothers, that is offensive to mothers in general. I just had to put that out there. I agree with the article and the person above ^, instead of shaming girls who do get pregnant in their teens and telling them that they just shouldn’t have sex, maybe we should be educating them (them includes BOYS) on how to have sex SAFELY. Sure, condoms are there but what happens when condoms fail? It was just recently that Plan B was made available for women under the age of 18 without a prescription, and people flipped their shit over it. I’m sorry but it is completely unrealistic to pretend that teenagers just won’t have sex if they are not granted access to things like the morning after pill, birth control and abortions. I don’t care how uncomfortable it is, we need to start educating teens on how to have sex safely and teach them what happens when your methods fail (because it does happen). Sex is natural, sex is great. We need to stop treating it like its some disgusting act that should never be discussed outside of the bedroom.

Also, stop putting the load on fucking teenage girls like teenage boys have nothing to do with preventing pregnancy. A girl can’t win in this day and age. If she gets pregnant and has an abortion she’s evil, but if she decides to keep the baby she’s told she was irresponsible and should have known this was going to happen.
